Ruckus Updates

8/29-30 Direct Action Trng at UW-Milwaukee

On the last weekend in August, The Ruckus Society sent three members of their training network to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  ActEverywhere at UWM hosted a 2-day Ruckus training consisting of Nonviolent Direc Action Theory & Planning, Media messaging, Intro to Blockades and Strategic Campaign Planning.

The goal of the weekend was to provide ActEverywhere with the tools to develop strategic campaign goals, move allies, neutralize opponents, improve spokesperson skills and plan successful actions that move you closer to your goal, while keeping on track with tactics and objectives. Drawing on the experience of the trainers, various Popular Education exercises and activities, members of ActEverywhere and UWM-SDS participated in workshops designed to build organizational capacity and bring out the knowledge of the participants.

All in all, the weekend was very successful and even the trainers gained a lot from the experience. The Ruckus Society will continue to provide trainings that can be customized to meet the need of almost any group.  Click here for more information on Ruckus’s training program.
