Common Fire Governance Summit

Adrienne caught a ride from the Social Venture Network gathering to join movement thinkers from smartMeme, Design for Social Change, YES!, Fellowship of Reconciliation, and others for an intimate discussion on rethinking nonprofit governance (at the invitation of Common Fire). This summit was just one of many simultaneous conversations on the role of nonprofits in movement building that are sparking up all over. We also addressed the role of intermediaries, the role of professionals, and how governance – in the form of boards or other forms – can serve the values of sustainability and self-determination. All present addressed key questions around how to achieve means-to-ends success in aligning an organization’s vision, values, structure and actual practices.
