Movement Generation 2012 Earth Skills Training #4
DIRECT ACTION RESILIENCE
Saturday Dec 8, 10am-4pm
East Bay (SF Bay Area) location TBA
In order for our communities to be truly resilient, self-sufficient and able to thrive in a time of compounded stress factors and scarcity (money, services, etc.), we must be able to provide critical services and resources to our communities without depending on the government and corporations who have never prioritized our health and safety.
In this day-long training we will center ourselves in Movement Generation’s concept of Resilience-Based Organizing and restoring our relationship to our own work and to the places we call Home. We will share multiple strategic tools for building life-boats for our families, neighborhoods and broader communities.
Specifically, we will learn about reclaiming land and housing, and building community institutions as alternatives to 911.
We will be offering 2 training tracks featuring the following topics/skills:
TRACK 1
Occupation Order of Operations: Learn the series of planning and implementation steps that it takes to successfully carry out a land or housing occupation.
Legalities of Squatting & Occupying: What are the laws around entering and making use of vacant property? How can we use existing laws to take land and housing successfully and safely?
TRACK 2
People’s Medics: See an example of an alternative to 911 in communities that experience street and/or domestic violence and are neglected by the system.
Transformative Justice with Critical Resistance: Healing our communities from the traumas of generational violence and building an alternative to the cops in our neighborhoods.
Earth Skills Trainings are FREE and open to the public
