From Wednesday November 29 through Saturday December 2, Rainforest Action Network, Global Exchange, Ruckus Society, and Code Pink will hold creative protests outside the LA Auto Show at the Staples Center to show how America’s oil addiction fuels climate chaos, environmental destruction, job losses, and international conflict.
This is the 100-year anniversary of the auto show and the Big-6 promise to have the most blatant greenwashing and deceptive marketing yet. You can help counter the automakers’ false promises by joining any of the creative protests being planned, including a Greenwashing Car Wash, an Oil Addicts Anonymous meeting, and a Flash Mob. All stunts will be fun, none will involve getting arrested, and several will quite likely make the evening news.
SO COME JOIN THE FUN!!!!
Events are happening on the 29th, 30th, 1st and 2nd and we would love more bodies. No preparation necessary!
- Wednesday – 12:00 noon (meet at 11:30) – Oil Addicts Anonymous (OAA). "Hi, I’m Bill Ford Jr. and I’m addicted to oil…" you get the idea.
Dress: Bring a suit and tie and prepare to confess your addiction or just have some doughnuts.
- Thursday – 12 noon (meet at 11:30) – Greenwash Car Wash.
Hotties and hunks in roller-skates soaping up a Hummer with sudsy green water. Anyone can help out.
- Friday – 5 pm (meet at 4:30) – Flash Mob. Put on a mask with dozens of others and show some environmental conscience.
Dress: shirt & tie.
- Saturday – 11-2pm (meet at 10:30) — Oil Enforcement Agency (OEA).
The OEA is like the DEA, but staffed by eco-vigilantes enforcing President Bush’s call to "move beyond a petroleum based economy."
Dress: shades, black boots or shoes, olive drab or camo pants — we supply shirt and cap uniform.
Hope to see you there.
Meet up outside the Los Angeles Convention Center, located at the junction of the I-10-Santa Monica and the 110-Harbor Freeways.
The address is:
1201 S. Figueroa Street
Los Angeles, CA 90015
